Using fill-in flash, as the name implies, is to use flash to fill-in light where it is deficient. This is usually the situation when you are in the shadows and shooting through objects in the foreground that are acting as a frame.

In the photo above, I was standing in a shaded spot and using the foliage as a frame. Without fill-in flash to illuminate the foreground, the latter would be quite dark. Shutter speed: 1/180 sec., Aperture: F2.8, ISO 50 with fill-in flash. (Exposure compensation was -0.7EV but that was because I forgot to reset it for a previous picture.)

Instead of the leaves, imagine a person stood in the foreground. Unless you wanted to silhouette the person (this can be quite effective in producing a dramatic picture), fill-in flash would throw in just enough light to illuminate the face.

A most pleasant effect can sometimes be achieved by photographing a person against the sun (or another strong light source). The light behind his or her head creates a halo around the edge of the hair. The face would be quite underexposed but for fill-in flash. Shooting against the sun also avoids your subject squinting in the sun.

To use fill-in flash, set your digital camera so that it is forced to fire the flash. Do not confuse with Night Shot scene mode which is similar but generally used at nightime for night portraits. In this case the flash fires to illuminate the foreground, while the shutter remains open a while longer to expose the background. You need to keep the camera steady until after the flash has fired and the shutter has closed.

Information source : Digital photography

Tips on making money through Stock Photography

Stock photography is one of the most popular areas of digital photography because it has opened the doors for even amateurs to make some money. I found this is an outstanding piece of work.

Here is Mr. Bill's original article.

Well ... would you believe ... magic ... (-;

Ok oK! ... but really ... one of these days y'all have to take magic as the answer ...

Nope, you still can't directly upload gif's on Gather. Not the way you typically upload images like JPGs or video using the tools Gather supplies onsite. You have to employ a little bit of magic in the form of HTML code editing in Gather's article publishing tool.

So ... how do you do it???

First you steal a chicken
... oops ...
that's how gypsies make authentic Hungarian Paprikash!
... which also involves a bit of magic ... (-;

I used three different image editing applications to create the GIF for the change:

*

* MS Photo Editor
* MS Paint
* Animator @ LunaPics

Please note, you do not have to use the same image editing applications. You can use your favourite image editing and/or drawing programs, and any animation software you have on your computer or use an online GIF animator to assemble the final image.

Image Creation:
First come up with a theme and select photos to express your theme.

Edit and size your photos. It is best to have all the images the same size. If you want to use a smaller image, edit it, and then open a blank new image in your photo editing application the same size as your other images. Then copy & paste and center the smaller image on the blank and save. Don't use very large images because your final image.gif will be a terribly huge file. The GIF processing is accumulative and adds all the bytes of all the images you use to create it plus some extra bytes to run the animation. I used images sized to the 550px Gather display width. My final image uses five photos and was just shy of 1 Mb total.

Add the captions. I created new blank images in MS Photo Editor slightly taller than my edited photos. Then copy & pasted my photos on the blanks so there would be a margin at the bottom for the captions. After saving the new images, I opened them in MS Paint and added the text for the captions.

Next I created my title page, again opening and saving a blank image in MS Photo Editor and sized the same as the other images. Then opened the image in Paint, added the background colour, title text, and then painted the accompanying scene. Then made the final panel following the same steps but with just text on white.

Click here to read more on digital photography imaging and animation

Improving Picture Quality With Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is the leading photo editing software program. It is used throughout the world by the most elite professional photographers to make their pictures look immaculate. It is also used by entertainment industry photographers, as well as "airbrush experts" at top magazines, tabloids, etc., to make famous people look skinnier, healthier and younger.

These people have been using Photoshop for years and have become experts in their respective crafts. With a little training and practice, you can accomplish the same results, and transform your photos from "good to great."

Adobe Photoshop can be used for many types of photo adjustments and enhancements.

Adjust eyes (open closed eyes, remove red eye and/or adjust color)

Remove areas of fat (such as a double chin)

Make teeth whiterS

moothen skin

Disguise blemishes

Hide scarring

Add hair to bald spots

Hide body piercings

Delete tattoos

Hide acne

Clever use of Adobe Photoshop can truly make anyone, in any picture, look several degrees better (the trick is to not overdo it so as to make the subject look fake; professional experts have developed a sense of what's "just right" - with practice, you will, too).

Digital Photo Secrets Review

With the advent of the digital camera, photography is no longer the realm of professionals.

Now, anyone can capture the most scenic rain-washed landscapes through their Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus or Kodak digicams. If that isn’t good, then hear this: now companies like Canon, Panasonic and Fuji have started offering digital cameras with 10 MP and 12x tele-zoom like the Canon S3 IS or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50K. Some of the functions include from high resolution picture capability of up to 10 megapixels, high ISO up to 1600, 2-2.5 inch LCD, 16:9 widescreen, live-view, red-eye correction, and high digital zoom among many others. Some of the advanced digicams like the Canon S3IS, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 and Sony Cyber-shot DSC H2 with 12x optical zoom and Olympus SP 500 & Kodak EasyShare Z650 with 10x optical zoom are being considered as the new breed of amateur digital cameras with functions that assist professional photography.

Have such an ultra zoom camera will take care of the technical aspect of photography but you need to experiment and learn some of the tricks of the trade on your own. Showing someone every picture you have taken dilutes the effect of the best pictures and gets very boring.

2 Turn the Camera on it's SideAt first it feels awkward holding the camera on it's side, but it is worth getting used to. If the shape of your subject, a person or a building, fits into an upright rectangle, you waste so much picture space if you shoot in landscape. You paid for all those millions of pixels, don't waste them. -

3 Framing
One of the easiest ways to improve your photography is with careful attention to framing. Look into the corners of the viewfinder to see what is there. Do you need all that background? Can you get closer to your subject or zoom in?

4 Direction of Lighting Photography is all about light, the direction of the light falling on your subject is most important, you must look at your subject carefully and see how the shadows fall.

If you are able to choose the time of day to shoot your pictures, try to pick a time when the sun is low in the sky, either shoot in the early morning or late afternoon.

If you are photographing in sunlight, try to position yourself so that the sun hits your subject from the side, this will give you nice 'modelling' and help create a 3D effect in the picture.

5 Direction of Lighting

The very worst kind of lighting is provided by the little flash fitted into all modern cameras. Not only does it give your subjects the dreaded red eyes, but also flattens all faces into shadowless featureless blobs. Use the in camera flashlight only in an emergency, when there is no other choice.

6 In Camera Flash
When you have to use the in camera flash, keep your subject(s) away from walls, especially light coloured ones, if at all possible, and avoid that ugly black shadow which looks like an outline. This will not show up against a dark background.

7. Exposure

Using auto exposure to your advantage. If you have a modern camera, the chances are that the default metering system is 'centre weighted average', which means that, although it takes an average reading of the whole scene, it takes more notice of what is in the middle of the frame. Which is good news for us.

8 Shutter Speeds When the shutter speed is important as with moving objects, it's a good idea to set the camera to 'Shutter Speed Priority' mode. This is where you select the shutter speed and the camera selects the appropriate aperture according to the light reading.

9 Apertures

If depth of field is important to either make sure everything is in focus or to throw some things out of focus, select the 'Aperture Priority' mode on your camera. In this mode you select the aperture and the camera selects the shutter speed according to the available light.

10 Neutral Density Filters

If you are shooting in bright light and want to restrict the depth of field, use a neutral density filter in front of the lens to reduce the light entering the lens. These are available in different densities, 2x, 4x, 8x etc. each one cutting the light in half, quarter, eighth etc. In extreme circumstances you can screw a couple of them together.

"Genuine home-based photography system lets you earn up to $250 a day and also gives you the opportunity to earnmonthly residual income off every photo that you submitonline!" -

Click here to download the top guarded secret of earning money online using your digital camera.

Secrets To Earn Money With Your Digital Camera

Digital photography has been evolving since the time the first ever digital camera was commercially launched and I, among many others, find it a great medium for capturing the silence of nature, dialogues amongst the winds, and the historical past.

Of course, I do a lot more with my digital camera than just take pictures like anyone else would; I try to take a picture that tells a story or that is like none other. If you want to take a snap of an upper body portrait, you need to make your subject more engaging and friendly. The best way to achieve this is to have them lean in towards your camera a little.

2. Your subject should lean a little towards camera or you need to take photograph from slightly above.

3. If you want to have a more formal portrait, post your subject in an upright position

4. Simple posing tip for head shot and upper body portraits is to angle the shoulders of your subject rather than to have them even or squared in your shot.

Lastly, if you’re feeling like experimenting with leaning your subject back away from the camera it’s possible to create a feeling of joviality as if they are leaning back for a belly laugh. Of course leaning back can also make your subject look quite uncomfortable and even defensive and it’s a pose that I tend to avoid.

Are you interested to learn all the photography posing secrets?

Click here to download " The Photographer's essential guide - Posing Secrets"

How to Take Good Christmas Pictures

This quick guide will give you some tips and tricks on how to take better pictures during the Christmas holidays.

1. Don't use the flash

The problem that usually arises from not using a flash is that your pictures may turn out blurry. The easiest way to solve this problem is to place your camera on a tripod Take multiple shots, holding the shutter button down and you're bound to get at least one good shot. Be sure you're using both your hands to support your camera.

2.Use different heights

When taking pictures of people, you typically want to be at eye level. This is fine for group shots or shots of adults, but when it comes to kids (and there will inevitably be kids around), don't be afraid to crouch down and get to their level.

Even lying down on the floor can help bring out some great photos. For shots of objects (presents, decoration, dessert) experiment with different angles instead of simply seeing something and snapping a photo (inanimate objects don't typically move, so they're easier to work with).

Try a direct top view or try putting the object in the foreground and some people or other scenery in the background.

3.Edit your images.

If you really want some good pictures, snapping a photo is only half the job. Plug your memory card into a reader or use a usb cable and upload the pictures. Some of the best quick things you can do are to crop and straighten your photos. Red eye is becoming less of a problem these days, but be sure to go through and fix all the scary eyeballs. You can use the auto color correct feature.

4.Do experiments to improve the photo

Learn to master your camera and take photo from different angles Just practice it and your photo will be highly appreciated.

Get Better Photographs With a Photo Trip Checklist

Imagine, there you are behind a blind of bushes watching a fawn and its mother in the woods. What a great picture it will make! You reach for your camera and realize you have a wide angle lens on the body.

To get a really great picture of the deer you will need your telephoto. You reach in your camera bag every so quietly. You feel around. You feel some more. In a quiet panic you realize the lens is not there. Then you remember, you cleaned it last night and left it on your workbench. You were so excited to get out into the woods that you forgot to pack it.

The fawn and its mother look at you as if to say, "We have posed long enough! If you are not going to take our picture we are leaving!" With one last look they run off into the woods. The great picture is gone, for today anyway.

If you are photographer, you may miss good amount of money for this mistake. I hope you know today you can earn dollar by using your digital camera.

Should you interested to know more on online money making opportunity using digital camera?

Click here to visit Camera Dollars .com

Whenever I prepare to go on photo trip, whether it is near my home or across the country, I always go through a basic checklist to ensure that I have everything I need for my trip. I actually have multiple checklists since I shoot a Nikon digital SLR camera and a Nikon film camera. I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to gadgets and equipment. I only bring those things I really need.

Here are my checklists:

Digital
Nikon D70s camera body
Battery charger
Extra Battery
Lenses: 300mm and a zoom lens (18 to 70mm) mounted on the camera
Memory Cards: I usually bring three 512 cards with me. I use 512 cards because I can burn a full card on a CD on my laptop. That is about the full capacity of a CD.
Laptop with CD burner: I generally down load the digital images to my laptop and burn a CD. This gives me backup while I am shooting. This is just a measure of safety to protect the images I have just taken.
Blank CDs
Camera manual
Film
Nikon camera body
Fresh batteries in camera
Extra set of fresh batteries as backup
Lenses (some will work with my digital camera as well)
Film: I bring twice as much as I think I will actually need.
Camera manual
Lens shade
For both Cameras
Cokin P filter holder
Polarizing filter
Graduated neutral density filter
Exposure meter
18% Grey Card
Tripod
Lens cleaning kit
Rain protection
Soft cloth for wiping down camera bodies
Mini Cassette recorder to record field notes as I take each shot. This is great when you are cataloging your images. It helps you remember the time and places images were made.
GPS
Maps of the area
Research on the area I am visiting

These lists work pretty well for my style of shooting in the field. They ensure I have the equipment I need for my photo trip. As I gain new experiences, I tweak the list to add those things that will improve my experiences in the woods.

You have to develop your own list to complement your style. It begins with trial and error. Develop your first list with the things that you believe you will need for your photo adventure. When you come back, review the list. Add things you wish you would have taken with you and remove things that you did not need. As you refine your list, you will find your photo trips will be much more enjoyable and much more productive. Make sure you use your checklist every time you go on a photo trip, near or far. As the old saying goes, success is when opportunity and preparation meet.

If you want to be a professional photpgraph, immediately download by clicking the link : digital photography secrets

Thomas T. But unfortunately, it did not work out even though I agreed to pay high fee.

I did some research. Amongst several options, I liked digital photo converter option.

Probably the easiest way to convert your slides to digital pictures yourself is to buy an off-the-shelf slide to digital picture converter. Yes, these do exist and they don't cost as much as you might think.

How You can do this?

You just load a slide or negative into the machine, press a button and a high-resolution digital picture is made. The process is quick and painless.

Major benefit is with a slide to digital picture converter you control the end product. If you don't like how one of the conversions looks, just do it again.

If you've been an amateur photographer for any length of time then odds are you've got stacks of slides, negatives laying around in your room. Now, You can also convert your slides to digital pictures
More on Digital Photo Converter
With the digital picture converter you can quickly and easily archive your old photos for your digital library.

The digital converter scans images at up to 1829 dpi with a 5 megapixel digital sensor so you get super-high quality digital photos at a fraction of the cost of having negatives professionally converted.

The photo converter system also comes with photo editing software to help you crop and edit the pictures to look exactly the way you want.

Where You get one?
You can buy digital photo converter from Hammacher Schlemmer

4 simple steps for better photo

Taking better photographs is a combination of proper technique, talent, and experience.

1. Print from a company that specializes in digital photo printing services, digital photo restoration, and 35 mm negative slide scanning

2. Go in for the close up. You can improve your photographs, just by getting a little closer to your subject before taking the picture.

3. Use all of the space and keep the focus of the picture.

4. Remember the rule of thirds. You should think of the viewfinder of your camera as being divided into three columns and three rows, and position your subject in a way that will cover as many of these blocks as possible.

Are you interested to learn digital photography?

Click here to buy Digital Photography Secrets by David. Canon EOS 20DThe Canon EOS-20D is one of the best digital cameras for the advanced user. With an 8.2 megapixel resolution and a bewildering range of manual modes, this digital SLR will deliver professional looking photos.

2. Canon PowerShot G6The Canon PowerShot G6 has a 7.1 megapixel resolution, a 4x optical zoom, as well as a wide range of scene modes and manual controls. Even though it lacks a digital SLR body, the images shot with this camera are nothing short of outstanding. It’s also one of the cheapest advanced digital cameras out there.

3. Olympus C-7000The Olympus C-7000 zoom offers a 7.1 megapixel resolution and 5x optical zoom. It also boasts 5 scene modes and full manual options. A very attractive buy, although the optional lenses are not allowed.

4. Nikon D70The Nikon D70 is one of the best-selling entry level digital SLRs. It has a solid design, a bewildering range of options, powerful speed, as well as great photo quality. With its cheap price, this 6.1 megapixel SLR is one of the best value cameras for serious photographers looking to upgrade their camera.

5. Canon Digital RebelThe 6.3 megapixel Canon Digital Rebel is a direct competitor to the Nikon D70. It targets photographers at the lower end of the advanced digital SLR market. Its low price, excellent image quality and speed give the Nikon D70 a run for its money.

6. Sony Cybershot Pro DSC-V3The Sony Cybershot Pro DSC-V3 is a decent advanced camera which is light and easy to use. With its 7.2 megapixel resolution and 4x optical zoom, it’s a great buy. Do note the colors can be a bit poor in some shots.

7. Canon EOS-1D Mark IIThe Canon EOS-1D Mark II is a new digital SLR aimed at professional photographers who want excellent customization options, great photo quality and impressive speed. This 8 megapixel camera is high on my list of recommendations.

8. Olympus C-8080With its 8 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom, the Olympus C-8080 represents great value for those hunting for a digital SLR. While it doesn’t sell as well as the Canon and Nikon SLRs, I think Olympus comes up with pretty decent advanced cameras too.

9. Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2The Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 is a hot favorite amongst professionals. From a feature and function point of view, it’s one of the best digital SLRs I’ve seen. However, the build quality lacks that nice and heavy SLR feel.

10. Sony DSC-F828Featuring a whopping 8 megapixel image resolution, the Sony DSC-F828 comes replete with a powerful 7X zoom lens and great camera optics. Very nice camera indeed.

Conclusion

There are lot of cameras suitable for the advanced digital photographer, but the above list is sufficient.

My vote is for Nikon D70 and Minolta DiIMAGE A2.

Top shopping tip

If you are new try a simpler and cheaper model first because the above mentioned cameras are more expensive than the average point-and-shoot model.

Ritu

Learn the secrets pf Digital Photography in 10 Days

Digital Photography Secrets

"Quickly & Easily Learn The Secrets

To Taking Breathtaking Digital Photos "

Have you ever tried photographing something beautiful, but the moment was lost forever because you "just suck" at taking photos?

Do you still take really bad photos, even though that expensive digital camera of yours has all the automatic settings that are "supposed" to help you take photos like a pro?

You're not alone.
